North Lake Path All Weather Surfacing Project
The Friends and Park Management are currently working hard to bring about a project to improve a significant area of the park’s paths. NCC and the Rangers wish to complete the hard surfacing of the remaining section of the North Lake Path in order to offer a complete all-weather path. This is a 500m section around the back of North Lake.
The aim is to provide opportunities for longer walks for everyone, including people in wheel chairs, especially during wetter periods of the year when the unsurfaced paths are muddy and slippery. Essentially this will give better access to the river and allow longer walks for people who are unable to use the unsurfaced paths or feel insecure on these at some times of year. A longer walk will attract additional visitors as well as provide new opportunities for existing visitors.
We have run a Signature Support Campaign for the North Lake Path Project. This was successful given our limited means of promotion. The signatures we have collected have real influence with the Big Lottery application decision process for matched funding. Thank you if you took part.
Funds Required & Funding to Date:
The total project will cost around £8,600 based on a competitive tender. We have been fortunate enough to gain generous commitments from the Bruce Wake Trust and Oundle Carnival. We shall be running another green token appeal through Waitrose Community Matters at Waitrose Oundle early 2016. To date we have commitments of around three quarters of the total cost but need to generate the remaining funds ourselves. So near and yet so far!
Our “Sponsor a Metre!” Appeal:
We are asking any generous people who share our commitment to the Park to participate by supporting ‘SPONSOR A METRE’ to help complete the funding.
We are suggesting the following donation programme for individuals:
1m = £5
2m = £10
4m = £20
Any person kind enough to Sponsor a Metre will be listed on a board along the North Lake Path. Any persons who wish to remain anonymous will be respected. Ranking on the proposed board will be by order of size of donation and within this order of commitment. No specific numbers will be listed.
We are also seeking the participation of businesses with an interest in supporting our local Park and ask them to participate as follows:
10m = £50
20m = £100
40m = £200
Any business kind enough to sponsor metres will be listed on a separate board along the North Lake Path as well as in the Visitor Centre.
Tenure of Sponsors’ Board:
The Boards with sponsors will remain until weather, wear and tear make them unsightly. However, there will be a permanent record of sponsors on the Friends’ website.
DONATION is SIMPLE:
- We accept donations online via PayPal via our website – just click/tap the ‘DONATE ON-LINE button below
