Barnwell Country Park

On the southern boundary of Oundle, nestling in the Nene Valley water meadows, Barnwell Country Park offers waterside walks, picnic meadows, BBQ area (bring your own disposable or portable BBQ), boules court, wildlife garden, fishing, bird hides, nature trails, and an adventure playground, suitable for children of all ages. The Park is located on the Barnwell Road, opposite Fairline Boats/Oundle Marina. For those using Sat.Nav., the Post Code is PE8 5PB.

The park is a patchwork of lakes, ponds and meadows in a loop of backwater of the river Nene and is a haven for wildlife including otters, heron, kingfishers, grebes, swans, geese, ducks and other wildlife. An ideal place for picnics, a leisurely stroll or a family day out.

There is a supportive Ranger service all year round. The knowledgeable Rangers can give help, advice and information on wildlife and how best to enjoy the activities available in the park. Pond dipping, nature quizzes and other exciting activities are often available.

There is a a Visitor Centre / Country Park shop all year round, with countryside gifts and toys and light refreshments. The Visitor Centre / Country Park shop and the Rangers can be contacted on 01832 273 435.

Fishing in the lakes and backwater is available during the season, upon production of a rod licence. Day and season tickets can be obtained from the shop. Boules can be hired from the shop.

The park caters for disabled anglers and visitors.
